Concord, NH —October 21, 2003 - HiSoftware, Inc., the leader in enterprise content quality management solutions, announced today the release of Hi-Caption LE, a no-cost tool that provides accessibility testers worldwide with a comprehensive solution for managing multimedia captioning for Windows Media projects, in complete conformance with standards mandated by Section 508 of the federal government's Rehabilitation Act, as well as the international accessibility guidelines set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments mandate that federal agencies make certain that all electronic and information technologies purchased, maintained, or developed meet the accessibility standards established by the U.S. Access Board. Although federally mandated, state governments and private organizations can also benefit by adhering to these standards, which enable access and usability to all audiences.

In order for multimedia to be accessible, developers must create captioning that is synchronized with media files. Hi-Caption allows for fast efficient creation, editing, and testing of captioning for Multimedia. The captioning file is stored in a SAMI file, which is an acronym for Synchronized Accessible Media Interchange. Similar to using a web editor to create web files, Hi-Caption LE allows you to easily create the formatted captioning file, without having to learn the code behind it. The software also supports captioning multimedia files in multiple languages so that the audience may select and view captioning in their language of choice.

Hi-Caption LE provides users with the ability to create, test, and mange captioning for their Windows Media Player productions. This solution also enables them to generate captioning for presentations animated through Microsoft Producer for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003. Program features include:
